Today started with laundry. Nearly every day involves some laundry, but even though we have a washer/dryer combo in our RV we do sometimes find it necessary to go to the laundromat. Today was one of those days. Because of the size and type of washer/dryer that we have, we can’t wash some of our bulkier items, and after several days of hiking and sightseeing at the grand canyon, we had a lot of those bulky clothes that needed cleaned. While it is nice that I can wash more in a shorter time at the laundromat than in our combo unit, it is difficult to do anything else during that time because as soon as I start something, it is time to move laundry on. Even so, I am thankful that we can do most of our laundry with our washer/dryer, and I am thankful for a laundromat close by.
The town where we are staying is on Route 66, so after getting laundry done, we decided to head to the historic downtown area for lunch. We found a fun diner and enjoyed a great, but expensive lunch. It was fun to see all the old memorabilia on the walls and the old style gas pumps. After lunch, we took a stroll down the street, saw all of the little shops, and got our picture taken by the Route 66 sign. We were expecting a normal road sign, but it was actually a big sign in a parking lot. The whole thing was a little more touristy than we expected maybe, but still a lot of fun.
We came home and enjoyed a relaxing evening. The kids played outside and Eric continued on a project from work while I worked on an order from my online shop. The RV park we are staying it at is right by the track for the Grand Canyon train, which is pretty cool. The kids enjoy waving to the passengers as the train passes by. Usually the park has a bonfire every night, so we bought the fixin’s for smores and were all ready to go, but we timed it wrong so we missed the fire this time. Hopefully tomorrow we can work it out. So, since we missed the fire, we came home and watched the movie Cars. The kids hadn’t seen it for a while and laughed all the way through it. It was a definitely a good day.
